A site visit was organized for 4 th year BE Civil students of Sal Institute Of Technology and Engineering Research to Sabarmati Canal Syphon and Escape structures at Karai, Gandhinagar. This site visit was organised as a part of the course taught to 4th year B. E students titled ‘Irrigaton engineering”. The Karai Aqueduct in Gandhinagar is located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is situated near the town of Gandhinagar, which is the capital of Gujarat. The Major objective behind organizing this visit to Narmada main canal crossing on Sabarmati River at karai village, Gandhinagar is to make our student realize the current practices going on in the field of Irrigation Engineering. All students were instructed to gather at said location at 9.30 AM on date of visit. This visit was start with an overview by Deputy Engineer from Irrigation Department, Government of Gujarat, at the canal syphon. The students were shown an overview of structures mainly consisting of two sections namely (1) The syphon Aqueduct (2) Canal Escape. Visit were coordinated by Prof. Sejal Desai and Prof. Hema Vanar. Also, thankful to Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer Er. Vaibhav Pathak and Nandu bhai for the visit of Narmada main canal division 2 for their support, guidance, active involvement during visit.
